Australia’s first fully immersive audio education program
The Huddle Game Day
Our sporting teams give us hope and athletes inspire us, but it is what we do beyond the playing fields and courts where sport can teach us to be a leader. In Melbourne, Australia, North Melbourne Football Club established The Huddle in order to leverage the power of sport with a goal to improve education and employment outcomes for young people. Throughout the Game Day experience, students will work in teams to complete STEM challenges which will require teamwork and resilience to solve problems and learn how to win.
Leading Learning Technology with Immersive Audio
In order to achieve a fully immersive audio experience, The Huddle partnered with Spatial, offering nearly limitless options for designing, creating, and deploying interactive immersive learning in real world environments.
Students can experience Spatial in the first learning space outfitted with 21 channels of audio including six in-ceiling speakers and 15 sidewall speakers placed above and below the LED screens. The audio interactivity is driven by Spatial which connects with QSC to output triggers to coordinate with the visuals on the seven surrounding screens. The storytelling comes to life through visual and audio cues that drive a completely interactive educational experience at The Huddle.
Spatial’s creative team was able to work with sound files recorded during AFL games at the NMFC’s Marvel Stadium, bringing authenticity to the sound experience for Game Day. Halfway across the globe, Spatial delivered all audio associated with the creative including syncing ‘EGO’, a voice associated with the ‘Simulation Stadium’.
“The Huddle was born out of the role and value of sport and the influence the North Melbourne Football Club plays in connecting people from diverse backgrounds to build upon their strengths, increase their ability to participate in society and contribute to more socially inclusive communities.”

Frequently asked questions
The original flagship product, Spatial Audio is a software platform solution for immersive, multi-channel sound systems which delivers an experience rooted in reality. Taking advantage of today’s computing power and existing audio hardware, Spatial’s platform renders audio as object’s with real time properties to represent a soundscape which never loops or repeats, and can be interacted with in many ways.
Spatial offers a soundscape library that is tailored to many different settings, use cases, and businesses. Take a trip to the beach, a surreal forest, or live inside a musical composition. Customers are also able and welcome to playback to their usual go-to media such as music, movies, and more.
Offering unparalleled flexibility, Spatial can playback its content library in any Spatial enabled system across any number of channels in any configuration, within reason. We have deployed Spatial Audio in small rooms with as few as 5 speakers, as well as in large multi-acre outdoor settings using over 400 speakers. Typically, an average deployment uses 16-24 speakers. We are hardware agnostic and support Dante or direct AES67 audio routing for modern audio over Ethernet and audio networking solutions such as Dante.
While Spatial is a high-end audio integration solution, we offer custom licensing per project type and hope to be able to find a license that works for you.
