Bringing the Largest Mountain on Earth to Life

The National Geographic Society and Spatial have teamed up to harness the power of storytelling using Spatial technology to recreate the explorers' journey up Mount Everest. Once Upon a Climb, engages visitors in an immersive exhibit of great heights.

Visitors enter the prologue of the exhibit and are welcomed by sounds of a sleepy yet optimistic Base Camp as they are transported to Nepal.  Voices of mountaineers who braved this world marvel come to life as they prepare to climb the largest mountain on Earth.

Decades of Everest heard here

The exhibit’s prologue was Spatial’s first mountain to climb with National Geographic, and we knew this was going to be an adventure of a lifetime. National Geographic explorers, mapmakers and scientists provided a gripping narrative to transport visitors by recreating the scientific journey.

With 45 speakers, 1,161 sound objects and four projector outputs powered by Spatial - guests were stepping into a chilling adventure recreated with immersive audio.

Frequently asked questions

What is Spatial Audio?

The original flagship product, Spatial Audio is a software platform solution for immersive, multi-channel sound systems which delivers an experience rooted in reality. Taking advantage of today’s computing power and existing audio hardware, Spatial’s platform renders audio as object’s with real time properties to represent a soundscape which never loops or repeats, and can be interacted with in many ways.

What can I listen to in a Spatial system?

Spatial offers a soundscape library that is tailored to many different settings, use cases, and businesses. Take a trip to the beach, a surreal forest, or live inside a musical composition. Customers are also able and welcome to playback to their usual go-to media such as music, movies, and more.

How many speakers do I need to have?

Offering unparalleled flexibility, Spatial can playback its content library in any Spatial enabled system across any number of channels in any configuration, within reason. We have deployed Spatial Audio in small rooms with as few as 5 speakers, as well as in large multi-acre outdoor settings using over 400 speakers. Typically, an average deployment uses 16-24 speakers. We are hardware agnostic and support Dante or direct AES67 audio routing for modern audio over Ethernet and audio networking solutions such as Dante.

I’m interested in Spatial Audio, how much does it cost?

While Spatial is a high-end audio integration solution, we offer custom licensing per project type and hope to be able to find a license that works for you. If you are an integrator, audio specialist, business or a homeowner, and are looking to learn more about Spatial Audio, please contact us at info@spatialinc.com

What is Spatial Audio, and how does it benefit businesses?

Spatial Audio is an immersive audio platform that transforms environments through 3D soundscapes. For businesses, this technology enhances customer experiences by creating unique sound environments in wellness, fitness, retail, hospitality, or entertainment spaces. Spatial Audio also helps elevate brand experiences, driving engagement and customer satisfaction.

Can Spatial Audio integrate with Dante or AES67 protocols?

Yes, Spatial Audio can seamlessly integrate with existing sound systems using Dante or AES67 protocols. This ensures efficient audio networking and communication with your current infrastructure, making setup straightforward for audio integrators. It is, however, important to identify the existing audio infrastructure as Spatial Audio requires direct access to each individual channel of audio within the system. We also offer a limited license for Spatial Audio in stereo that can be integrated into almost all existing audio hardware. Please reach out at info@spatialinc.com for more information.

How can Spatial Audio enhance the design of a multi-use room?

Spatial Audio offers dynamic sound customization for multi-use rooms, allowing you to tailor the audio experience to different activities. Whether it’s an office, a home theater, a yoga studio and well beyond, Spatial’s 3D soundscapes can be adjusted to enhance both functionality and ambiance.
